The End Is Just the Beginning

The experience of a graduation is incomparable. Graduation is a symbol of completion. Achievement. A graduation is an event that represents the end of a stage in life. Many people, in their excitement as they graduate, reflect a joy that makes it seem like the have finished with all the things they had to learn in life. The message that comes across is that they have accomplished all they needed to accomplished for the rest of their life. They make it seem like they are done with test and problems. But the truth of the matter is that in life, it doesn't work like that. In life, every end, is just a beginning.

Who do we trust?

When  you hear someone telling you: I trust you... do you wonder: What do they actually mean? A few weeks ago, as someone was sharing with me a hidden part of their life, I learned that the 5-letter word TRUST, means more than just telling someone your secrets. Trust is the foundation of any and every relationships we have. Trust is a partner of love. A string that tights and keeps our loved us near to our hearts.
But, how do we know who we truly trust? The test is easy. What people do we feel comfortable to be ourselves around? Being openly us, no matter what, is one of the hardest things to do. Specially because, being ourselves also includes that people will see our weak points and nasty sides. And those secret and ugly parts of us are the ones that make us try to be someone else. But no matter how much we try to hide it, faking it will not change who we really are. Perhaps is time for us to start thinking who are we "trusting." Perhaps is time to recognize we have been lying to others and to ourselves, as we have been trying to be someone else and thinking we are been ourselves. Trust isn't how much you can tell someone about yourself, is how much of yourself you can be around someone.

Falling asleep and never waking up...

Have you ever fallen asleep and had the perfect dream but when you woke up, everything was gone? Yeah. I've had some of those dreams too. And I so wish I could just go back to bed and keep going with my wonderful dream.
I've heard so many people say: "I wish I could just fall asleep and never have to wake up."(Believe me, I know how that feels because I'm one of those people that have said that at some point of their lives.) But, what do we really mean by that? We all remember the bed times stories of our childhood. The shoe fit Cinderella, the frog was turned into a prince, sleeping beauty was awakened with a kiss. These became our dreams. And as we grew up, we realized that fairy tales don't come true. And then we began dreaming what we thought were "mature dreams." Dreams that, we thought, could come true. To later find ourselves, just like back in our childhood when dreaming with fairy tales, crashed. So then we shifted to the other extreme trying not to dream at all. Because it seems like the other stories, the ones that start in dark and stormy nights and end in the unspeakable, our nightmares, are the ones that become the reality.
But falling asleep and dreaming lovely stories doesn't help at all. But just to feel worse when you have to wake up. Dreams can come true. They don't happened by a chance. They happened by a choice. We make that choice. To keep on sleeping, dreaming and longing for our dreams to come true. Or to wake up, get up, achieve our goals and make our dreams come true.

If tomorrow never comes...

A couple of hundreds years ago, Benjamin Franklin revealed the secret of his success: "Never leave that 'til tomorrow' which you could do today." This is the man that discovered electricity. And you would think that most of us would listen to what he had to say. But sadly, for some reason we put things off. And if I had to guess why, I'd say it had to do with fear. Fear of failure. Fear of pain. Fear of rejection. Sometimes the fear is just of making a decision, because what if we choose wrong? What if we make a mistake that we can't undo. Whatever it is that we are afraid of, there is just one truth. That by the time the pain of not doing the thing the thing gets worse than the fear of doing it.

How much is too much?

How do we know how much is too much? You know, too soon, too much information. Too much fun. Too much love, or too much to ask os someone? When is it all just too much for us to bear?

Expectations

We all think we're going to be great and we feel a little bite robbed when our expectations aren't met. But some expectations sell us short. Sometimes the expectations simply pales in comparison to the unexpected. You got to wonder why we cling to our expectations, because the expected is just what keep us steady. Standing. Still, the expected is just the beginning, the unexpected is what changes our lives.

Scars and Souvenirs

What's worse, new wounds which are so horribly painful or old wounds that should've healed years ago and never did? May be our old wounds teach us something. They remind us where we've been and what we've overcome. They teach us lessons about what to avoid in the future. But all people have scars. In all sorts of unexpected places. Like secret roadmaps of their personal histories. Diagrams of all their old wounds heal, leaving nothing behind but a scar. But some of them don't. Some wounds we carry with us everywhere and thought the cut's long gone, the pain still lingers.

Time after time

Some people believe that without history, our lives amount to nothing. At some point we al have to choose: do we fall back on what we know, or do we step forward to something new? A patient's history is as important as their symptoms. It's what helps the doctors to decide if heart burn is a heart attack... if a headache is a tumor. Sometimes patients try to re-write their own histories. They'll claim they don't smoke, or forget to mention certain drugs... which in surgery can be the kiss of death. We can ignore all we want, but our history eventually always comes to haunt us.
It's hard not to be hunted by our past. Our history is what shapes us... Our history resurface time after time. So we have to remember sometimes the most important history is the history we are making today...

Letting Go!

Have you ever been is a situation you want to just LET IT GO!?
I have. But as much as I tried to forget about it I thought more about it. As much as I tried not to be sad, angry, frustrated, etc... about it, I would feel more irritated about it. So frustrated and tired of feeling this way every time I was trying to let something go, I decided to take time and think about the situation, in a way that i could actually come up with a solution. I decided to be honest with myself (and sometimes that can be really hard... perhaps more when you know that part of you inability to let go is your fault).
And I got to a conclusion. Letting go is a process that takes time, just as any other process in your life (like learning to walk, or ride a bike). I found that I was trying to let go in a way that is impossible and more painful than what it's supposed to be.
In order for us to be able to let go and truly get over something, we need to be ready to let you. Yes, you never thought of that ah!... me either. But is true. If you are not ready to let go, you'll keep drowning in the ocean instead of floating. Going deep instead of going to the surface. And no matter how much efforts you put in going up, those energies will be the ones that you push you down. But, how do we know if we are ready to let go? How do we get ready to let go? It is as simple as WANTING to let go. Wanting to let go?? Yes, sometimes we think that we want to let go, and we lie to ourselves saying all the reasons why we should let go, but, do we really believe all of the "should"s? Or may be our inability to let go is knowing that no matter how badly something hurts, we know that letting go hurts worse...
